THE HIGH COURT OF JUDICATURE AT ALLAHABAD

DIRECT RECRUITMENT TO THE UTTAR PRADESH HIGHER JUDICIAL SERVICE- 2007


Applications for direct recruitment to 82 vacancies in the Uttar Pradesh Higher Judicial Service, in the pay scale of Rs.16,750-400-19,150-450-20,500 with other admissible allowances, are invited by the undersigned. Out of this 41 vacancies are for General candidates, 17 vacancies are reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates, 2 vacancies for Scheduled Tribe candidates, 22 vacancies for Other Backward Classes. There shall be 20% horizontal reservation for women subject to their suitability, in accordance with the Uttar Pradesh Higher Judicial Service Rules, 1975. The recruitment will be based on a written examination followed by an interview. The candidates will be called for interview on the basis of marks secured in the written examination. The written examination will be held on 22, 23 and 24 June 2007. Dates of examination can be changed, if necessitated.


Note: The total number of vacancies and the recruitment, shall be subject to orders of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India; in C.A. No. 1867/2006, Malik Mazhar Sultan & others Vs U.P. Public Service Commission and others.

Eligibility of candidate


  1. The applicant must be a citizen of India.


  1. The applicant must be an Advocate of not less than 7 years standing on 1.1.2008.


  1. The applicant must have attained the age of 35 years and must not have attained the age of 45 years on the 1st day of January 2008. Provided that the upper age limit shall be higher by three years in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes and such other categories as may be notified by the Government from time to time.


  1. A person dismissed by the State Government or the Union Territory or the Union Government or by any Corporation owned or controlled by the State Government or the Union Territory or the Union Government SHALL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR RECRUITMENT.


  1. A male applicant, who has more than one living wife or a female applicant, who has married a man already having a wife SHALL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR RECRUITMENT.


  1. A candidate for recruitment to the service must possess thorough knowledge of Hindi in Devanagari Script and English.


Application forms containing detailed instructions can be obtained on any working day during office hours from the Counter in the office of Registrar General, High Court, Allahabad, on payment of Rs.100/- in Cash or by Demand Draft in favour of Registrar General, High Court, Allahabad, payable at State Bank of India, High Court Branch, Allahabad. Application form and other instructions are also available on the WEB-SITE of Allahabad High Court (www.allahabadhighcourt.in), which can be downloaded and used for submitting the application form along with required application form fee of Rs.100/- and examination fee of Rs. 750/-(Rs. 500/- in case of candidates in Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe category).


The last date for submission of duly completed application form is 30.4.2007 till 5.00 p.m. whereafter no application shall be received and entertained.


The manner in which the application form is to be filled up and submitted, and other details are contained in "Instructions for the Guidance of the Candidates", which are enclosed with the application form and are also available on the Web-Site of Allahabad High Court (www.allahabadhighcourt.in).


The candidates shall submit duly completed application forms to the Court personally (not by post, courier etc.) through:


  1. The District & Sessions Judge in Uttar Pradesh, within whose territorial jurisdiction the candidate has been practicing,


  1. The Registrar General, High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, in case of candidates normally practicing in Allahabad High Court,


(iii) The Registrar General/ Registrar (where there is no post of Registrar General) of the High Court, at the principal seat of that High Court- in case of candidates practicing outside the territories of Uttar Pradesh and practicing in other High Courts.
