• Graduated in Arts in 1965 and in Law in 1967 from Alld. Univ. Obtained first division in every examination he appeared for from Senior Cambridge to LL.B.
• Enrolled as an Advocate in 1968. Practised in Labour Laws, Taxation and Writ matters in Allahabad High Court. Worked as Standing Counsel, Income Tax Department.
• served as a member, International Association of refugee Law Judges. Attended conference in Switzerland from Oct 23 to 28, 2000 and various Law related conferences in Delhi and elsewhere.
• Elevated as permanent Judge on Nov 30, 1991. Appointed as Acting Chief Justice of Allahabad Hgh Court from Aug 27 to Nov 28, 2004.
• Transferred to Madras High Court as Chief Justice on Nov 28, 2004.
• Appointed as Chief Justice of Delhi High Court on Oct 12, 2005.
• Elevated to Supreme Court on Apr 10, 2006.
